Group Performance | Music

 Kamusta bloggers, today in music we were told to make a blog about our Music group.

In my group, there is Jayc, Tristan, Jv, Eugene, and me. Each one of us has a different role in the Group, I and Jayc are doing the vocals, Eugene is playing the guitar, Tristan is playing the drum, and Jv is playing the piano. We would like to study the instruments and chords first.  We were struggling with what song we were gonna perform, so we let Tristan choose the song for us. The song he picked is Narda by Kamikazee, it was written by Jay

Contreras and performed by the band Kamikazee. The song is about a fictional Filipina superhero, Darna. 

I think the hardest part about this is practicing how to make our performance perfect. 

Kamikazee is a Filipino rock band formed in 2000. The band is composed of Jay Contreras, Jomal Linao, Led Tuyay, Puto Astete and Bords Burdeos. Fans and critics have described the band's music as a mix of pop-punk and hardcore punk. 

Use Of Spirituals and Hidden Meanings | American Slavery Trade Map

Kia ora bloggers, these past periods of Social Studies we learnt about American Slavery Trade and what every process the event had. We also made a map of the Slavery Trade. 

There were different types of songs that were used, like Spiritual songs. Spiritual songs were always sung in the gathering of the slaves in "praise houses" or "bush meeting". The song was used to uplift slaves, give them hope, church, funerals and if an allowed wedding, and to relay secret messages
to help them escape.

Harreit Tubman an ex-slave famous for helping thousands of slaves escape. She used songs to send messages to slaves. She uses the Underground Railroad to sneak out the slaves out from the slave's states. Underground Railroad isn't really a railroad, there's no rail or trains but an underground tunnel. It's scattered around the slave's trade towards the safe area, where slaves are illegal.

Harreit Tubman used "Wade in the Water"  to tell slaves to get into the water to avoid being seen and make it through. This is an example of a map song, where directions are coded into the lyrics. The secret lyrics that has the hidden meaning of the song is "Wade In The Water" because runaway slaves were better to wade in the water so slave catchers and dogs could not sniff them out

Name Acronym - 10 ESOL

Kia ora bloggers, in ESOL's class our teacher set as a task to put describing words in every letter on our name that describes ourself. After making the poster we had to pick two of the selections and write something about it that proves it's us.

I picked Knowledge for letter K because I’m pretty sure, on my age, my intelligent or my knowledge level is above average and higher than some of my mates. I have proven my intelligence since I was still in the Philippines, I competed for a mathematics challenge for my region. For letter H, I choose word Heart-warming, I feel like it defines me as myself because when people need some hand, I don’t hesitate to help them with anything. Im always there for them when they’re feeling down or sad, it’s my job to make sure they’re on the right emotion.

 Kia ora bloggers for todays blog, it's just a small blog because I'm just gonna answer question the teacher gave us about the book Unwind. 

- How do you think this story will be written? 

I think this story is written base on a second person type of writing.

- Why do you think the story is entitled as it is?

I think the book is titled Unwind because it's gonna tell about the history of the place or people time travelling back in the days.

- Where do you think the story will take place?

By looking at the cover I think the story will take place in a Dystopian land or place.

-What time period do you think the story is set in?

I think it'll day times and night time (idk). 

1. What do you already know about pro-life and pro-choice groups? What do these terms mean? Is it an issue you have thought about? 

2. What do you know about organ donation? Organ donation is the process of surgically removing an organ or tissue from one person and placing it into another person. Transplantation is neccesarry because the recipient's organ has failed or has been damaged by disease or injury.

3. Teenagers to be unwound are sent to Harvest Camps. Can you make a connection between the language used to describe this place, and other places people have been sent historically?  

4. The term "living in a divided state" here is really a euphemism for what? Can you think of other, common euphemisms? Why do people use euphemisms?

10 ESOL = 321 RIQ

 Kia ora bloggers, today in ESOL our class learnt about 321 RIQ and what it represents. 

So what exactly is 321 RIQ? 321 RIQ is a strategy many students uses on how to do their blog or how to do a blog. 3 and R stands for "3Recalls", 2 and I stands for "2Insight", and 1 Q stands for "1Question".

2 Insight - 2 New things I learnt in this lesson.

1 Question - 1 question I have about something I didn't remember or still want to know about.

Last class on ESOL we introduced our self using a game our teacher told us, and for today we talked about 321 RIQ and what it means, and how to use it.

In this lesson, I learned the meaning of 321 RIQ and how to use this skill effectively when blogging. 

My only concern is does this technique works on every blog?

I only ever learned this skill now, and I don't seem to find it overly difficult to use in my writing. I am looking forward to being able to incorporate this skill more in my writing in the near future.

Slinkachu Research Slides

 Kumusta bloggers, this past few weeks in arts we've been talking about Slinkachu's work, we also learned about focal points, leading lines, balance, symmetry/asymmetry and rule of thirds. After learning about his work and photography we were then set a task, which is to photograph small figures inspired by Slinkachu's work.

Slinkachu (b. 1979, Devon, UK) has been “abandoning” his miniature people on the streets of cities around the world since 2006. His work embodies elements of street art, sculpture, installation art and photography and has been exhibited in galleries and museums globally.

Here's the slide that we were working individually, we had to pick one of Slinkachu's art then draw it on the paper and put it on the slide, then specify what are the rule of thirds, leading and the focal point.

Overall it was a great term working on arts, specially working with Mr. Collins. I really love how Mr. Collins explains every single detail about and Slinkachu's work. I learnt a lot this term about arts in a interesting and joyful way.
