Chapter Questions - Part Two; Storked

  1. What tattoo does Roland Have?

    1. A tiger shark tattoo

  2. Each of the other characters on the run has a tragic background story. Why were Hayden, Roland, and Mai set to be unwound? Which do you think is the most tragic?

    1. Roland was unwound because he beat up his stepfather, Mai got unwind because her parents wanted a little boy, and Hayden, he was unwound due to the fact that his parents often fought and eventually got divorced. In my opinion, the worst background story is Mai because just because she’s a girl her parents don’t want her, it’s like they don’t treasure their kids and didn’t accept her just because she’s a girl.

  3. What makes Lev realize he doesn’t want to be unwound?

    1. Pastor Dan told him the truth, that he does not unwind. He told Lev's parents that Lev is tithe and got kidnapped. Pastor Dan never told the police that he is unwind.

  4. Connor is concerned the baby won’t be loved, and ultimately will die, so he takes it. What does this show us about him as a person?

    1. Connor showed empathy to the little baby, he doesn’t want the baby growing with being unloved and lost.

  5. In your opinion, by allowing new mothers to give up their children so readily, does it take away the value of a child?

    1. NO, it doesn’t because the child still has a lot of potentials to grow and be a successful person in the future.

Live Aid | Geldof and Ure

 Bob Geldof

In the 1970s Bob Geldof was a singer in the Broomtown Rats. He was famous for songs like "I Don't Like Mondays" and "Rat Trap". Bob Geldof was involved in a spontaneous event that includes many of the best-known pop singers and writers invited. In the 1985 he was one of the main organizers of the event Live Aid Concert
at Wembley.

Midge Ure

Midge Ure was a Scottish singer that was involved in several bands, he was the frontman of Ultravox. Together with Bob Geldof, they wrote the song "They Don't Know It's Christmas" and assembled an all-star band of British musicians. The song sold millions of copies over 1984, he prompted Bob Geldof to organize the concert; Live Aid in 1985.

Bob Geldof and Midge Ure wrote the song 'They Don't Know It's Christmas' The track, which was first released on 25 November 1984, was written by Boomtown Rats frontman Bob Geldof and Ultravox guitarist Midge Ure as a reaction to the shocking television reports of the 1983-85 Ethiopian famine.

Created with the sole purpose of raising funds for the people of Ethiopia, the track featured cameos from famous pop faces- with everyone from Bono to Boy George taking part.
After achieving a Christmas number one that year, the track went on to be the fastest-selling single in UK history

Here is the full lyrics of the song:

It's Christmas time, there's no need to be afraid

At Christmas time, we let in light and we banish shade
And in our world of plenty we can spread a smile of joy
Throw your arms around the world at Christmas time
But say a prayer, Pray for the other ones
At Christmas time it's hard, but when you're having fun
There's a world outside your window
And it's a world of dread and fear
Where the only water flowing
Is the bitter sting of tears
And the Christmas bells that ring
There are the clanging chimes of doom
Well tonight thank God it's them instead of you
And there won't be snow in Africa this Christmas time
The greatest gift they'll get this year is life
Where nothing ever grows
No rain nor rivers flow
Do they know it's Christmas time at all?
Here's to you
Raise a glass for everyone
Spare a thought this yuletide for the deprived
If the table was turned would you survive
Here's to them
Underneath that burning sun
You ain't gotta feel guilt just selfless
Give a little help to the helpless
Do they know it's Christmas time at all?
Feed the world
Feed the world
Feed the world
Feed the world
Feed the world
Let them know it's Christmas time again
Feed the world
Let them know it's Christmas time again
Feed the world
Let them know it's Christmas time again
Let them know it's Christmas time again
Feed the world
Feed the world
Feed the world
Feed the world
Feed the world
Feed the world
(Feed the world)
Feed the world
Feed the world

Acid Rain Experiment

Kamusta everyone today in Science we were talking about Acid Rain, and we did an experiment similar to acid rain but in a small version.

Acid Rain and its Impacts on Biodiversity - The Team
Acid Rain Pathway

Acid rain is caused by a chemical reaction that begins when compounds like sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides are released into the air. These substances can rise very high into the atmosphere, where they mix and react with water, oxygen, and other chemicals to form more acidic pollutants, known as acid rain.

Acid Rain Experiment

Aim: To observe effects of Acid Rain

Hypothesis: I think it will affect everything around its area

Equipment: Petal, calcium carbonate, apple, universal indicator, bromothymol blue.

Method: In a petri dish place items around the edge. Wet dry ingredient with a drop of water. In the middle put a  boat. Add a spatula of sodium sulfate to weigh boat and 5 drops of sulfuric acid. Quickly close the lid.

The universal indicator turned into red, the bromothymol blue went yellow, the flower loses its color a little bit same as the apple, nothing happened to the calcium carbonate tho. It all happened because of the reaction of sodium sulfate and sulfuric acid. The calcium carbonate supposedly bubbles a bit, but we might did something wrong that's why it didn't bubble.

Stracey's 100 Word Challenge | English

Good morning, good evening, good noon bloggers today in English Mr tasked as to write a 100 Word Challenge about Stracey and Room 12. So here's my writing enjoy.

Stracey had always wondered why no one ever went into Room 12. Now, she knew, dead silence was very loud when entering the room, it was pitch dark, shattered glasses were covering the floor, spider webs all around the room, cabinets, lights, tables, and chairs. When stepping in the room, it gives you a curse that will destroy your joyful life! The curse is very creepy and dangerous nobody ever risked their life to enter the room. The curse triggers when you touch someone, they only have 1 more day to live and they’d be sent to a devil's dimension.

Parihaka - Tim Finn and The Herbs | Social Studies.

Kia Ora bloggers, this blog is supposed to be posted 2/3 weeks ago, but I wasn't at school during the times my class was looking and studying this topic. Today is the only day I had a chance to blog about this topic; Parihaka. Bare with me as I don't know much about the topic.

The song tells us the story of the Taranaki Parihaka peaceful protests. Finn was given a book on the topic (Dick Scott's Ask That Mountain) by his sister and told to write a song about it.

The line that expresses their passive resistance method is "Te Whiti he used the language of the spirit, Then stood accused, the madman and his dream, He saw the train go roaring through the tunnel, He heard the voice travel on the magic wire, But he loved the silence of the river,"

You can't pull out the roots means that the soldiers can't get rid of the crops that Parihaka grew during their passive resistance movement.

It shows significance because it was a story that was untold and hidden for years and it took the government over 100 years later for an apology. The raukura, the single white albatross feather was worn by Te Whiti and Tohu's followers symbolize peace.

The event was significant because Te Whiti and Tohu's aims were to resist the invasion of their land and to protect Māori independence. They drew on both Māori and Christian teachings and advocated good relationships between all races as long as Māori ownership and independence were respected.

Te Whiti and Tohu were arrested and jailed for 16 months, 1,600 Parihaka inhabitants were expelled and dispersed throughout Taranaki without food or shelter and the remaining 600 residents were issued with government passes to control their movement.

Here is the full lyrics of Parihaka by Tim Finn;

My friend, My friend, I hate to see you suffer,

Events conspire to bring us to our knees,

My friend, my friend, you've taken this the wrong way,

Rise up, defend yourself, never give in,

Look to the sky, the spirit of Te Whiti,

The endless tide is murmuring his name.

I know Te Whiti will never be defeated,

And even at the darkest hour,

His presence will remain.

I'll sing to you the song of Parihaka.

Te Whiti he used the language of the spirit,

Then stood accused, the madman and his dream,

He saw the train go roaring through the tunnel,

He heard the voice travel on the magic wire,

But he loved the silence of the river,

He watched the dog piss on the cannon's wheel.

I know Te Whiti will never be defeated,

And even at the darkest hour,

His presence will remain.

I'll sing to you the song of Parihaka.

One day you'll know the truth,

They can't pull out the roots,

Come and take me home,

To weep for my lost brother.

They gather still, the clouds of Taranaki,

His children's children wearing the white plume,

So take me for the sins of these sad islands,

The wave still breaks on the rock of Rouhotu.

And when you taste the salt that's on your pudding,

And when you taste the sugar in your soup,

Think of Te Whiti, he'll never be defeated,

Even at the darkest hour,

His presence will remain,

I'll sing for you the song of Parihaka,

Come to Parihaka,

Weep for my lost brother,

The spirit of nonviolence,

Has come to fill the silence, Come to Parihaka.

My Favourite Cultural Celebration

Pintaflores Princess

Hundreds of celebrations in the Philippines but my favourite is Pintaflores it is because my family cook good foods during the celebration day like, biko, ginataan, fried chicken, bulad, halo-halo (a dessert), buko juice, kaldereta, lechon and many more side dishes. They sometimes give us money as well between 1000 - 2000 pesos which is equivalent to $35 - $70, having that much money in the province of the Philippines will get you a lot.

Seeing the colorful costumes that are worn by the performers always gives me joyful vibes or presence. Pintaflores festival is an annual event that is held in the beautiful city of San Carlos, in Negros Occidental. The festival is marked every 5th of November.

The festival’s name is unique, one that piques the interest of many a traveler. This name is a derivation of the Spanish word ‘pinta’ which loosely translates to tattoos and ‘flores’ which means flowers. This festival, in essence, is all about a fusion of arts and nature, making for a very interesting theme.

I once competed in the festival but I wasn’t the dancer, I didn’t get chosen to be the dancer because I can’t dance but the judge picked me to be a props man. Props men are the one who carries the props at the back (look at the picture above). Props are always plants-kinda, flowers, trees, and symbols. We work and practice hard day and night but sadly our team only achieved the place 3rd.
